Composition Concepts Final
the spirit in frenzy
Material – acrylic on bristol paper
This was for a project where I had to create a piece that explored the spiritual, social, formal, or political.
I settled on creating a spiritual piece, utilizing an abstract style I typically don’t work with. I painted this imagery abstractly because, to me, spirituality is complex. No matter the religion you can still depict a certain feeling what it looks like to the individual without using an objective image of God, angels, or anything else that represents religion or spirituality.
I gained inspiration for this project researching different artists, Makoto Fujimura and Bill Viola, as well as the depiction of the angel of death in The Prince of Egypt.
